Article excerpt from the Southside Sentinel:
Several Middlesex County residents attended the Inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20. Following are some of their memories of that historic day.
Carolyn Chamberlain of Saluda: My grandson Christopher and I went to the Inauguration and I felt so happy and proud to say that we were able to witness the swearing in of the first African-American President. I never thought this would happen in my lifetime, but I felt in my spirit that one day it would come to pass. I feel President Obama is going to make a great change in this nation for every race and nationality. I thank God for the change.
